On June 9th, Lost in Frenchlation is bringing you the latest hit starring our handsome priest from only a few screenings ago (Romain Duris) – ‘Cessez le Feu‘ with English subtitles! The insightful epic explores the aftermath of World War I on French soldiers trying to find their place in a France which has moved on… Drinks from 8pm, screening at 9pm.

The Plan 

The screening will take place at the amazing Studio 28 in the heart of Montmartre – Paris’ oldest cinema rooom which is also one of the city’s most iconic. Join us from 8pm for a film-themed cocktail available from the bar (€4.50, or €6.00 with a packet of popcorn) before the screening starts at 9pm. Tickets available on the door only – please arrive early to avoid disappointment!

‘In the early 1920s, Georges Laffont (Romain Duris), traumatised by the horrific trench warfar, decides to leave his life behind and travel to West Africa into the vast territories of Upper Volta in the company of Diofo, artist and also survivor of the Great War. From village to village, Georges uses Diofo’s talents as a griot to recruit the villagers as labour for plantations in Ghana.

But his adventure leads him to a dead-end, and he comes back to Paris where his brother Marcel (Grégory Gadebois), a war invalid, lives with their mother’s. After the war in Europe, life went out without him.
Georges will desperately try to find his place, with the help of Hélène (Céline Sallette), a sign language teacher with whom he will have a tumultuous relationship, and his family, that he selfishly left behind.

Studio 28 is located on 10 rue Tholozé, Montmartre 75018 Paris. Tickets to the movie will be available on the night, please arrive early to avoid disappointment. 9€ full price; 7,50€ for students and other concessions.
